Monsters Inc is a medical research facility and when the plague started one of the doctors, Randall became obsessed with finding a cure and would abduct survivors he found and experimented on them hoping that human genetics would unlock the mystery to this plague. When he abducts Mary (Boo.) Her DNA is mutated and could provide an answer. Randall wants to take full advantage of this but his colleagues, Mike and Sully are feeling the pinch in their conscience and rescue Boo from Randall to take her somewhere safe.
Though Randall won't take this betrayal very lightly and he will begin hunting the trio to get back to his research.
